Q. Do you have enough life insurance?

All active duty personnel, including reservists, are covered up to $250,000 by the Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance program (www.insurance.va.gov), for $20 a month. Some people, however may require additional life insurance, depending on their needs (children's education, weddings, etc.). If you get a private policy for additional coverage, make sure it doesn't include a war clause.

Q. What is the difference between whole, universal and term life insurance?

Term life insurance is usually the least expensive of the three types of insurance (term, universal, life). However, with term life insurance, there will be no cash value building within the timeframe of the policy. Universal or whole life insurance can provide coverage for your entire life rather than for a specified period of time. With universal or whole life insurance, a portion of your premium will result in a probable cash value of your policy, over a period of time.
